A 37.5-acre site in the Cotswold's that included both garden and land for equine use. The client brief was to design a formal garden surrounding the house, providing year-round colour and blending with the surrounding countryside. In addition, she wanted a design that would link the farm buildings to the garden creating a more harmonious feel. The client also provided images of the gates that she wanted included in the design.
Details:
Topiary, Hornbeam and Beech hedging was used to link the farm buildings to the house garden. Perennial borders provided the year-round colour. The terracing was extended to surround the house and topiary, clipped hedging and pleached trees giving the garden a formal feel and linking with the farmyard. A water feature was placed to the front of the house and was backed by the gates that the client loved. Wildflower lawns with mown paths link the gardens to the surrounding fields.
